Within this category we describe creating signs on various rigid substrates & covering them with a choice from a range of self adhesive sign graphics for indoor and outdoor purposes.
Substrates. The substrate of a sign is the backing panel onto which the self adhesive sign graphics media is adhered to. We use the highest quality, exterior proven substrates as per the following list:
Signwhite Colorbond This is our most used, all purpose substrate. It is economical, physically strong & highly weather resistant.
Aluminium Composite Panel is available in a variety of coloured finishes. It has a foam PVC core with a aluminium veneer front & back. In most varieties it is slightly dearer than the colorbond & is not as strong. It is light weight and highly weather resistant and ideal for the extreme conditions of coastal signage. It is a bit more vulnerable to denting & vandalism than some of the other substrates.
Aluminium Plate Sheeting can be more than twice the cost of the colorbond but is light weight, highly weather resistant and ideal for the extreme conditions of coastal signage. In the thinner varieties it is a bit more vulnerable to denting & vandalism than some of the other substrates.
Galvanized Sheeting. With its range of thicknesses, this substrate can be very physically strong and is also highly weather resistant. To create the ideal finished surface, we recommend painting with 2 pack enamel. Unfortunately this does increase the cost.
Stainless Steel This substrate is the ultimate in strength, weather resistance & unfortunately price.
Weathertex Signboard. This is a economical, timber based substrate that is also highly weather resistant. Unfortunately it also needs to be painted to create the ideal surface. This again makes it more expensive than the colorbond option. The benefit of this product is that it can be easily jigsawed into interesting signs panel shapes.
White Corflute Plastic This is a low cost, corrugated form of substrate and has a exterior life expectancy of 2 years. Its short external life makes it more ideal for temporary & internal signage.
Foamed White PVC Sheet is a smooth satin finish plastic. This is suitable for interior / exterior purposes and is light weight & easy to cut. Sizes 3mm & below are cheaper than the colorbond. Its is limited in strength and should not be used in freestanding situations.
Self Adhesive Sign Graphics Media can then be applied to a selected substrate as a finished sign. We use a couple of techniques to achieve this.
Fixing Substrates. Ounce signs have been manufactured, we provide a installation service. We use the highest quality external mounting products like stainless steel pop rivets, plastic plugs, galv screws, galv / stainless steel nuts & bolts & exterior glues. In some cases we use permapine timber as a spacer to mount signs off a existing surface to create a attractive 3D effect.
